Hey, I’m Aaron.
I make things, figure out how they work, and share the process.

Visual effects.
Filmmaking. Technology.
I’m Aaron Sorensen—a director, visual effects artist and educator who brings stories to life through filmmaking and technology. My work spans music videos, immersive experiences and cinematic VFX, from directing Butcher Babies’ Yorktown to projects for The VOID and serving as lead VFX artist on Mayer Elliot’s Convergence.
I work across directing, cinematography, 3D animation and compositing, connecting the creative vision with the craft behind the shot. Through VFX Central, I share that process in videos and courses, and build Blender addons that help other artists spend more time creating.
Whether I’m developing a film, experimenting with virtual production or building a new tool, I’m driven by the same idea: make something that feels impossible—and share how it’s done.
Stories. Shots. Worlds.
From the first idea to the final frame.

Achievements
The projects, milestones and moments that shaped my career.

Meeting J. J. Abrams.
When an email arrived from one of my favorite directors, I thought it had to be a prank. It led to a meeting with J. J. Abrams at Bad Robot, where I learned he was a fan of my YouTube channel. We talked about software, filmmaking and creating—a conversation that reminded me how far sharing your work can take you.
It inspired me to keep making things and putting them out into the world. You never know who’s watching.
Awakening at Wynn.
I worked on animated banners for Awakening at Wynn Las Vegas, bringing the show’s imagery to life through motion.
